We’re pumped to announce that Gary “Willo” Wilson is joining the Eastern Warriors from the 2026 season onward!
Willo comes in as our new
Director of Coaching, bringing years of footy smarts, leadership, and a genuine passion for developing players and coaches. His focus? Lifting our standards, sharpening our game, and helping everyone at the club get the best out of themselves.
“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in,” Willo said. “The Warriors have great people, great energy, and huge potential. I’m keen to help build something special here.”We couldn’t be happier to have him on board — welcome to the Warriors, Willo!
The good news doesn’t stop there. We are pleased to announce that Sue Emery will once again be Head Coach of the Warriors Women's Non-Contact Team. Sue was named the AFL Masters Women’s Coach of the Year in 2024 and continues to be a tireless champion for the women’s non-contact game.
We’re also thrilled that Chris ‘Magoo’ Riley is committed again to coaching the Warriors Mens Over 55s team for 2026, building on a strong showing in the team’s inaugural 2025 season.
The club, with Willo’s assistance, is actively recruiting coaches for the Mens Over 35s and Over 50s teams for 2026 and beyond, and we’ll be making further announcements in due course. Expressions of interest are being sought - if you’d like to nominate yourself or someone for the role, please forward an expression of interest to
admin@warriorsmastersfc.com.au.
We also have a new website and marketing campaign to come as we seek to refresh and reinvigorate our playing groups, as all clubs need to do.
Pre-season training starts next week on Wednesday 12 November, stay tuned for more news and see you on the track!
